One of my favorite newer 21st century artists is this cool Canadian guy Matt Mays. His albums tell a story, so he's captured the soul of narrative folk-singer-songwriters but in a alternative rock style. Here are 40 songs from his growing catalogue that started in 2003. This guy has his own voice for sure, but he taps the spirit of Neil Young, Tom Petty, and from there he kind of creates his own unique vibe. He's a superstar in Canada, and he should be huge all over the world, but maybe he's fine with where's he at. I'm okay with it. If I lived in Canada I'd venture to go see him play live. He only does exclusive shows in places like New York City, so I haven't had a chance to see him live yet. Terminal Romance is a perfect album, but start from the beginning and go all the way to the most recent works.
