We'll start out a new month with The Doors. They are a legendary American band from the 60s, dying a quick death in the early 70s with the death of their leader the great Jim Morrison who dies at 28 in Paris. The man was a poet and a singer. But he was backed by an incredible keyboard player Ray Manzarek and experimental guitarist Robby Krieger and amazing drummer John Densmore. The four were amazing songwriters. They did a few instrumental albums without him, but they stayed true to their deceased singer and never attempted another album with another singer. Only in their final years did they go out on a tribute tour bringing along The Cult's Ian Astbury as guest vocalist in 2002.
Manzarek wrote an incredible novel The Poet in Exile about a band member going to meet up with its long dead lead singer who was found to be still alive living another identity. Fact or fiction? Or wishful thinking?
Here are thirty incredible must have tracks for me...
