My mother listened to Cat Stevens records around the house when I was little. His songs are part of my DNA. This playlist is a comprehensive overview of his catalogue. I don't live everything here, but tried to pick a little something good from each album. The material I love is really all from the 70s before his withdrawal from the scene. I like some of the more recent come back songs, but I'm generally disappointed and could've done without them. I respect the fact that he made peace and found his own way, and maybe we lost great music as a result, but his last couple of albums were already showing a departure from the quality of the earlier material. Watching an old live video of one of his shows, he was a bit of a jerk to the band members and stagehands. Maybe he threw away music and became a better person. I hope so.
