This is a newer artist, and a solo artist, who is based out of California. His 2010 album Under Control is my favorite. There's a song on there titled "Alien" that is just whoa! Cary Brothers is his name and he delivers 21st century rock/pop that is grounded in a lot of the great 80s music I grew up loving.
