Ace Frehley

Ace Frehley was very influential on a lot of the guitar players I grew up listening to.  I went back through the older KISS stuff later, after hearing and enjoying the late 80s "X in Sex" kind of stuff that he wasn't. a part of. So in the late 90s when I did go back through the older KISS catalogue, I discovered Ace and the original KISS recipe. His unique playing and voice were appealing and I'd argue he still has the best of the four solo albums issued in 1978 by all four original members. Ace has come out with a few strong and surprising rock albums in recent years, but it's that 1978 solo album that stands out for me. "New York Groove" is an anthem for born New Yorkers like myself.
